There are some automakers that simply build perfect vehicles, they don't cause lots of rumors, and don't make big announcements but when their car gets revealed all we say is “WOW”!
Whether it's HVAC testing time or a new ordering system, there's not much that's off limits. Today, Elio's announcement at the Los Angeles Auto Show is sort of a medium-level deal, with the debut of the E1c Engineering Vehicle showing off an upgraded interior and safety systems, as well as a new frame and suspension system. The point of all this? To show that Elio continues to move towards production
Sure, the new vehicle looks an awful lot like Elio's previous prototypes, but there are important differences at play. Elio says that, "the E1c is part of Elio Motors' E-Series vehicles, which are being built for testing and validation purposes. More than 80 percent of the E1c was assembled using soft tooling - short-term, low-cost production tools - to prove manufacturability and repeatability of individual parts prior to full production." In other words, we made this one, and so we will be able to fulfill the 62,000 reservations the company has already taken. When it arrives, the three-wheeled Elio vehicle will get up to 84 miles per gallon and cost $7,300.
