The Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet is now official and will feature the powerful 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine.
Three months has passed since the regular S-Class Cabriolet was unveiled, and the S 65 version brings much of the same performance as the AMG S-Class Coupe.
Assembled at parent company Daimler's commercial vehicle factory in Mannheim, the three-valve-per-cylinder powerplant produces 465kW at 4800rpm and an immense 1000Nm of torque between 2300 and 4300rpm.
This is the first time when Mercedes is offering this engine in a four-seat convertible. It embodies all the creature comforts of the S-Class cabrio, including a fully automatic three-layer fabric top, airscarf system, and a bodyshell claimed to be just as rigid as the coupe's. In addition to that monstrous engine, AMG fitted the convertible with a sport-tuned air suspension, 20-inch wheels, optional carbon-ceramic brakes, ultra-shiny brightwork, and a lightweight lithium-ion battery to offset the weight of the massive output up front.
If you’re looking for your a super luxury drop top, and don’t want a Rolls Royce or a Bentley, Mercedes is taking orders this spring.
